The University of Waikato recently launched O Neherā to display their important cultural heritage collections. The University has a strong commitment to digitisation of material that supports research in New Zealand history.
Library Systems Manager at University of Waikato, Steve Donaldson, says ” We’ve endeavoured to make this material as discoverable and accessible as possible to our user community. Now with O Neherā being delivered through Recollect, we have a platform that is intuitive to use, and provides a greater capacity for users to engage with our content. We can now work at a deeper level with our collections, to build informative links between items, and create stories and context around the material.”
O Neherā is fast approaching 4000 digital items including historical images, postcards, maps, and a range of primary documents relating to mid-nineteenth century Aotearoa/New Zealand. It will prove to be a key resource for students and researchers alike.
